Rodrigo y Gabriela go Silver in UK (3rd
August 2007)
Mexican acoustic rock guitarists Rodrigo y
Gabriela are celebrating 60,000 sales (BPI silver sales status)
of their self titled album in the UK. Released in March 2006
on Rubyworks, ‘Rodrigo y Gabriela’ has been one
of the great word of mouth success stories of recent times.
Spurred on by steady touring, knock – out festival
spots, quality press reviews, radio support from the likes
of Jonathan Ross and Johnnie Walker; and TV appearances on ‘Later
With Jools Holland’ and more recently, the BBC’s
Glastonbury coverage.
The success is shared by small Dublin based independent
label Rubyworks, who become the first Irish indie to sell
60,000 albums over in the UK.
Rodrigo y Gabriela and Rubyworks are distributed in the
UK by Vital / THE.
Rodrigo y Gabriela returns to the UK next month to play
The V Festival in Staffordshire and Chelmsford, before embarking
on a major US tour in the autumn.
