Wallis Bird wins Best Irish
Female at the Meteors.
Wallis Bird triumphed at the Meteor Irish Music Awards
on Friday 19th February. She won the Best Irish Female
category, beating off stiff competition from Laura Izibor,
Julie Feeney, Valerie Francis and Dolores O'Riordan.
Wallis returns to Dublin on Wednesday 24th March to
headline The Academy venue.
Wallis Bird signs to Rubyworks
New single and album incoming summer 2009.
Rubyworks are delighted to announce the signing of Wallis
Bird for Ireland and the UK. Hailing from County Wexford,
Wallis has impressed everyone with the intensity and
passion of her live performances; nurturing a gig-going
following whose admiration borders on the devotional.Wallis
is currently in Germany recording her new album, the
follow up to 2007's debut outing 'Spoons'. She says:
'I'm absolutely thrilled to be signing to Rubyworks
for the UK and Ireland. They have a well deserved reputation
as a label with integrity who work in a true partnership
with their artists, and I'm looking forward to a long

ready to go on to the next stage of her career'. Already
nominated for RTE 2FM's Hope For 2009 Award at this
month's Meteors; Wallis has also been confirmed to appear
at Oxegen in July. This will be preceded by a new single
earlier in the summer, with the album to follow, more
